Posterior Capsule Opacoty , don’t quite occur on the degree as mentioned in this video . Mostly depends on IOL implant design and feature , as well as surgeon properly cleaning the capsule , depending on the degree of difficulty some surgeons may leave the capsule unpolished, because of patient condition , or not to risk complications. Forgot to mention how particular material of IOLs may develop glistening , which will cause visual discomfort especially at night . That also widely available in literature

Any ideas or advice, I had the right eye done, Toric lens and the vision at distance in blurry maybe 20/25 and feels like something is off center in the eye. had the left eye done also Toric lens and the vision is excellent 20/15 and no weird feeling at all. Doctor has just said right eye is so close lets wait 5 months and see if it fixes itself. It has been almost 4 months and still the same. Should I just live with this, maybe this is all I can hope for, my left eye seems to be doing all the work.

Hi Dr Lee, thanks for this informative video. I have a family history with glaucoma and recently had a procedure on myself from my opthalmologist for something called open angle glaucoma. My Dr said the procedure/treatment was done to prevent/ control glaucoma. I have been getting my eyes checked approximately every 6-8 months with a visual field test. Out of curiosity, would I still be a possible candidate for Lasik?

The question I have about LAL lenses is that after the lens has been set (fully polymerized), is it still subject to optical changes if exposed to fairly intense blue or even longwave UV. Having to redo the surgery would not be in my list of things I'd like to do :-).

After seeing 3 ophthalmolgists over a couple years the third one was on the same page as my optometrist's recommendation: monofocal set for intermediate distance, and I had settled on that myself after thinking about the pros and cons and my lifestyle (lots of computer, hobbies). The third Dr also specified the post-op refraction she'd be aiming the two eyes for: -3 for the worse eye (currently -17 from subjective refraction exam) and -2 for the less worse eye (-11 from subjective refraction exam). I have read -2 diopter is a model for intermediate distance but do you know why she would make the worse eye one diopter more? She will also be using the ORA machine during surgery to confirm lenses needed for the -3, -2 combination. I know this Dr. and the multi-practice she's in are very experienced, and the clinic they use is highly rated, I just have difficulty in understanding her answers which seem to be along the lines of "what is your concern, your eyesight will be so much better". I know that, I just want to know the details and the why of her decisions.

I've seen three ophthalmologists over three years as my cataract in one eye worsened. The first, close to my home, barely spent 5 minutes with me, and turned me over to her office manager who gave me a few premium lens pamphlets from IOL manufacturers and said choose and we'll schedule your surgery. The second was better but seemed intent on finding astigmatism that he could treat, and didn't entertain the idea of a target focal point other than distance, and was leaping into the idea of mini-monovision. The third, not great bedside manner, but strongly felt that I should go with intermediate distance and monofocal lens which concurred with my long time optometrist's recommendation. The third also did call me back on a couple subsequent questions that I had, which is a good sign. So I'm scheduled with her at a specialty clinic that about half the ophthalmologists in my area use. Hopefully, luck will be with me, as results can be variable even with a good surgeon, as I have read.

Looking back over the last few years as a cataract has worsened in one eye, I can say my world has diminished since I've given up night driving, and even daylight driving in unfamiliar places. My spouse fills in the driving gaps, but I look forward to being independent once again, it can't help but be good for the brain and mood.

While I appreciate the quality of the information here, I truly wonder if in the end it doesn't do more harm than good. There are just too many people who are not emotionally and or intellectually prepared not to mention the high probability of trolls commenting who get some kind of strange kick about scaring people, no surgery is without risk but I think it's pretty clear cataract surgery is on the very very low end and what is the alternative? Waiting until cataract destroy your vision completely?

Hi, I really appreciate the detailed information in your videos. Question: How common is it to need the YAG laser procedure for PCO? I had my cataracts removed about 8-10 weeks ago, and I had my final follow-up with my surgeon a few days ago. He said he would like to see me once per year to evaluate how things are going and then said that it was "very likely" ("most likely") that I would start experiencing some opacity within the next year or two and need a laser procedure again. During the lead up to the surgery, everyone I spoke to referred to PCO as "very rare" and "unlikely", not almost guaranteed. Now I'm super confused. He also said that the opacity could recur and that I wouldn't be able to have the YAG laser procedure a second (or third, etc.) time. How did I get from "cataract surgery will cure your cataracts forever, yay" to "oh, the new lens is going to go opaque and at a certain point in the not too distant future (BEFORE I retire, for example) the new lenses will go opaque. I am so worried and confused now. It's hard to talk to my surgeon -- he seems super rushed, like we're on an assembly line and when my three to five minutes are up he just walks out of the room telling me he'll see me in a year. WHO is going to answer my questions?!?

Had cataract surgery seven weeks ago. I used to have one eye with near signtedness and the other with intermediate. My brain interpreted, and I used spectacles only for road driving or movie/theatre going. These glasses did not prevent my seeing at closer ranges (for example the dashboard). Now the ex-intermediate eye, the one operated, doesn't see correctly at ANY distance except precisely 1 foot. It doesn't hurt, but feels bloated, with floaters and a side bar. And I'm desperate, not being able to see my cat's face or my bookshelves. I amm feeling so desperate that my older thoughts of suicide have come back again. Only, this time, by stabbing through my destroyed eye...

I expressed I don’t want o ware glasses or readers Post surgery I feel like I lost close range and am not happy.
